Welcome to the course!

I'm so glad you're here, because that means you want to take your Self-care seriously. Way to go! The benefits of Self-care are numerous, extending from your physical health to your mental and emotional wellbeing. And that's not all - taking care of yourself inevitably leads to taking better care of others. So let's do this course for us, and remember that those closest to us will also benefit from the time we take to care for ourselves.

In this course, I’ll help you:

  • Learn what Self-care actually is (and how to avoid it's evil twin, self-indulgence).
  • Identify obstacles you're facing when it comes to caring for yourself.
  • Develop a plan for putting Self-care into your daily life.

PLUS, and you'll get 3 printable COLORING pages that will help engage your brain in the information, and start imagining what life with Self-care can look like.

Before we start, here's a few things you should know.

1.) Materials you'll need:

All you need is a working printer and printer paper, as well as coloring tools like crayons, colored pencils, or markers. Use whatever you like to use for coloring (or whatever you have lying around). Personally, I prefer Crayola brand coloring supplies.

2.) Access the course on the go with any iOS device.

You can download the free Teachable app (that's the name of my host server) and use the same log-in credentials you used to enroll in this course. From there, you can access the course anywhere you have internet access! Need a walk-through? Visit here to watch a quick tutorial.

3.) Read my disclaimer and privacy policy below.

Important - please read my disclaimer:

I (Danica) teach art as a therapeutic tool; I am not a licensed therapist. This course is for self-reflection and self-help only. It's like the equivalent of picking up a self-help book for a topic you want to grow in. This mini-course will not provide a mental health diagnosis, nor will it substitute for mental health treatment.

This course can be taken on your own, or in conjunction with counseling. There is no shame in asking for some extra help - I've benefitted from counseling too (and you'll hear me talk about this in the lesson video). To find a licensed therapist near you, please visit: https://www.counseling.org.

If you are in crisis, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255. "The Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones," according to their website. Your life is precious and worth saving.
